The Sentry Safety Surface Mounted Electric Strike is designed specifically for rim-type, surface-mounted panic exit bars and provides a convenient way to control access from the outside of a secured doorway. This configuration allows occupants to exit quickly through a panic bar while providing authorized users with a secure means of entry through compatible electric entry devices.
The strike can be activated by a variety of access control devices, including keypads, proximity card readers, and other compatible electric entry systems. Operating on a 12VDC power source, the surface-mounted design provides installation flexibility and is compatible with a wider range of panic bars and door configurations than many mortise-style strikes.
Because the strike mounts to the surface of the door frame, installation and service access are simplified. The surface-mounted design also provides easier access for inspection and diagnostics. The fail-secure operating mode keeps the door locked when power is not applied and releases the door only when the strike is energized, helping maintain security during a power failure.
The Surface Mounted Electric Strike is designed to operate in a wide range of environmental conditions, with an operating temperature range of -31°F to 122°F and a relative humidity range of 10% to 90%. A dual-door mounting option is available with a 90-degree aluminum angle bracket that provides a suitable mounting surface when installing the strike on a pair of doors.
Dual-Door Mounting:
For dual-door applications, the surface-mounted electric strike must be positioned as it would be when installed on a standard door frame. A 90-degree aluminum angle bracket provides the additional mounting surface needed to install the strike on a dual-door configuration.
Fail-Secure Operation:
The fail-secure design keeps the door locked when the electric strike is not energized. When a compatible access control device sends power to the strike, the locking mechanism releases to allow authorized entry. Because the strike remains locked when power is unavailable, it helps maintain controlled access during a power failure while still allowing normal panic-bar egress from the secured side.
