The Sentry Safety 100 Series Stainless Steel Cross Bar Exit Device is a durable, surface-mounted rim-style panic exit solution designed to provide secure and reliable emergency egress for commercial buildings. Constructed from stainless steel with a gray finish, this cross bar exit device is ideal for steel, wood, composite, and framed glass doors in high-traffic applications.
Designed exclusively to work with Sentry Safety Handles, the 100 Series features a universal design that can be installed on either right- or left-hand doors. Available with a 28-inch or 36-inch push bar, the cross bar can be trimmed to fit your door during installation while maintaining dependable performance. The included steel strike provides secure single-point latching, making this exit device suitable for single doors, dual doors with mullions, or dual doors without mullions when paired with a Sentry Safety 120 Series Panic Exit Bar.
Recommended Applications:
- Glass doors with a metal stile (frame) at least 2" wide, or 4" wide when using an outside handle
- Steel, wood, and composite solid-face doors
- Doors up to a maximum width of 38.25"
- Doors up to a maximum thickness of 3-3/8"
- Doors with any usage frequency (light, medium, or high traffic)
- Single doors, double doors with a mullion, or double doors without a mullion when paired with a 120 Series Panic Exit Bar
Not Recommended For:
- Applications requiring UL certification. This panic bar is not UL certified. Click here for UL-rated panic bars.

Trimming the Panic Bar to Size:
The crossbar that connects the two handles is supplied ready for sizing. To shorten the bar, simply cut it to the required length using a hacksaw or miter saw. After cutting, drill a 3/16" hole in the bar for the set screw, then attach the bar to the handles. This model is universal and can be installed on either right-hand or left-hand doors.
Latching and Mounting:
This panic bar is surface mounted and installs on the rear (secure side) face of the door. The strike mounts to the door frame behind the door, not on the inside edge of the frame where a standard handle may have previously been installed. If the door has an existing handle, it must be removed before installation. Cover caps are available to conceal the holes left behind after the handle is removed. Door jamb brackets are also available to cover the original latch location on the frame.
Mounting bolts are included. However, depending on the door material, you may choose to use wood screws, self-tapping metal screws, or sex bolts of the same diameter. Sex bolts provide the strongest installation by securing both sides of the door, with the male and female components joining through the door for a secure hold.

Outside Door Handle with Key Release
Two styles of outside handles are available: a lever handle and a knob handle. Both function the same way and replace the exterior cylinder lock. The handle operates the panic exit bar just as the included cylinder lock does. It is key-lockable, preventing the handle from being operated without the key. The key does not directly release the panic bar; it only locks or unlocks the handle, which then operates the panic bar. The key cylinder is non-momentary, meaning the key remains in the unlocked position until it is turned back to the locked position.
Surface-Mounted Electric Strike
A surface-mounted electric strike provides another method of releasing the door from the outside or from a remote location. It replaces the standard mechanical strike included with the panic bar. When the electric strike is not energized, the panic bar latches normally. When the strike is activated by an access control device, the door can be pulled open from the outside. Compatible access control devices include keypads, card readers, intercoms, desk-mounted push buttons, remote controls, and GSM cellular receivers. If you purchase an electric strike, you will also need an exterior pull handle and a compatible access control device.
Door Closer
Door closers are available in several styles with different features, but they all serve the same purpose: ensuring the door closes automatically. Because this panic bar latches every time the door closes, a door closer is a popular accessory to help ensure the door remains securely closed and locked.
Pull Handle/Finger Pull
An exterior pull handle or finger pull is sold separately and is recommended when using the included cylinder lock. When unlocking the door with the cylinder key, you must pull the door open at the same time. These accessories provide a convenient grip for opening the door while turning the key.
