PRODUCT DETAILS

The Sentry Safety 2000 Series Stainless Steel Cross Bar Exit Device is a UL Listed, surface-mounted panic exit bar designed for reliable emergency egress in commercial and institutional buildings. Featuring a single-point narrow stile cross bar, this model is ideal for aluminum storefront doors and doors with glass inserts where a narrow-profile exit device is required.

Designed for medium- to high-traffic environments, the 2000 Series is commonly installed in warehouses, factories, schools, hospitals, and other public facilities. The universal design allows installation on either right- or left-hand doors without requiring separate handed models. Available with a red or silver push bar, the 38-inch cross bar can be trimmed to fit smaller door openings while maintaining dependable performance. This model is designed exclusively for use with Sentry Safety Handles.

ASSEMBLY TIPS

Trimming the Panic Bar to Size:

The actual bar that goes between the two handles is provided ready for sizing. To shorten the bar, simply cut it with a hacksaw or miter saw to the required length. Then attach it to the handles.

Changing from Right or Left Hand Mounting:

With this panic exit bar, it is very simple to change between right- and left-hand mounting. The lever on the handle can be flipped into the opposite position without tools and then mounted.

Latching and Mounting:

This panic bar is surface mounted. The panic bar is installed on the rear face of the door. The strike goes on the door frame behind the door, not on the inside of the frame where a handle may have previously been installed. If the door has a handle, it will need to be removed. Caps are available to cover the hole left behind after the handle is removed. Door jamb brackets are also available to cover where the old handle latched to the frame. Mounting bolts are provided; however, depending on the door material, you may switch to wood screws, self-tapping metal screws, or, for added strength, sex bolts. Sex bolts have a female side on the outside of the door and a male side on the inside that join in the middle. Since both faces of the door are used for securing the bar, this provides a secure hold.

Optional Products Associated with this Bar (purchased separately):

Outside Door Handle With Key Release

If you need access from the outside, you must purchase this accessory; otherwise, the door can only be opened from the inside using the panic bar. The handle is key-lockable. The key provides a non-momentary release; if you unlock the door from the outside to operate the handle, you must relock it for the handle to remain secured. Unlike some keyed handles, this one is not spring-loaded and does not automatically return to the locked position. The key does not directly disengage the panic bar; it only engages or disengages the handle, which then disengages the panic bar.

Surface Mounted Electric Strike

This is another method for releasing the door from the outside or from a remote location. The electric strike replaces the provided mechanical strike. When the electric strike is not activated, the panic bar engages normally. However, when the electric strike is triggered using an access device, the door can be pulled open from the outside. Access devices can include a keypad, card reader, intercom, desk push button, receiver/remote control, or GSM cellular receiver. Keep in mind that if you purchase the electric strike, you will also need a pull handle for the outside of the door and appropriate access control devices.

Door Closers

There are several variations of door closers with different features; however, the main purpose is the same: to ensure the door closes automatically. Because this door will always latch to the strike, a door closer is a popular addition to help ensure the door stays closed and locked.

Panic Exit Pro has actual experience.
We have a dedicated testing area, provide factory and in-house training, have installed this equipment on our own properties, attend industry trade shows in multiple countries, and visit our manufacturers' factories. When you see and use as many products as we have, you develop ideas for small improvements that make a significant difference. We have put those ideas into practice and used them to help thousands of customers create entry control solutions that work for their unique applications.
