The Sentry Safety 2000 & 2200 Series Dual Door Panic Exit Bar Package is a complete UL Listed exit hardware solution designed for double-door applications requiring reliable emergency egress and coordinated door operation. This package combines the 2000 Series Stainless Steel Cross Bar Exit Device as the primary door device with the 2200 Series Double Door Panic Exit Bar as the secondary door device, providing a properly configured system for commercial, institutional, and high-traffic environments.
In a dual-door application, the primary door is designed to open first, allowing the secondary door to operate correctly once the primary door has been engaged. The included 2000 Series features a surface-mounted, narrow stile cross bar design with single-point latching, making it ideal for aluminum storefront doors and doors with glass inserts where space is limited. The 2200 Series complements the system with a vertical rod configuration designed specifically for double-leaf openings without a center mullion, providing secure top and bottom latching for dependable operation across both doors.
Both panic exit bars feature universal handing for right- or left-hand installation and are designed exclusively for use with Sentry Safety Handles. With trim-to-fit push bars and durable construction for demanding environments, the 2000 & 2200 Series package is an excellent choice for warehouses, schools, hospitals, factories, and other facilities requiring a coordinated dual-door exit solution with dependable performance and UL Listed protection.

Panic Exit Pro has the resources you need.
How do you use your entry system once you have it? Panic Exit Pro is the only retailer that provides a real answer to this question. We have developed videos to help you understand many of our door entry components and products, and we write DIY-focused manuals for most entry system accessories. |
Trimming the Panic Bar to Size:
Both the 2000 Series and 2200 Series Panic Exit Bars use a cross bar that is sized during installation. The actual bar section that connects between the two handles is provided ready for trimming. To shorten the bar, simply cut it with a hacksaw or miter saw to the required length, then attach it to the handles.
Changing from Right- or Left-Hand Mounting:
Both panic bars are designed for simple right- or left-hand mounting. To change the handing, the lever on the handle can be flipped into the opposite position without tools and then mounted on the door.
Latching and Mounting:
Both the 2000 Series and 2200 Series Panic Exit Bars are surface mounted and install on the rear (secure side) face of the door. The main difference between the two models is the way the door latches:
- 2000 Series: This is a rim-style panic exit bar with a single latch point. The latch engages a strike mounted on the door frame behind the closed door. The strike is not installed on the inside edge of the frame where a standard handle latch may have previously been located.
- 2200 Series: This is a vertical rod panic exit bar designed for double-door applications. The rods extend to the top and bottom of the door and engage two strikes mounted on the frame. The upper and lower latches secure the door to the frame for additional support.
If the door previously had a handle installed, it will need to be removed before installation. Caps are available to cover the holes left behind after removing the handle, and door jamb brackets are available to cover the previous latch location on the frame. Mounting bolts are provided; however, depending on the door material, you may choose to use wood screws, self-tapping metal screws, or sex bolts for added strength. Sex bolts have a female side on the outside of the door and a male side on the inside that join in the middle. Because both faces of the door are used for securing the bar, this provides a stronger hold.
Optional Accessories (Sold Separately):
Outside Door Handle With Key Release
If outside access is required, an exterior handle must be purchased separately. The handle provides key-controlled access and allows the panic bar to be operated from the outside. The key does not directly disengage the panic bar; it only locks or unlocks the handle, which then operates the panic bar.
The 2000 Series can be paired with an outside handle for exterior access. The 2200 Series is typically used in dual-door applications and is commonly paired with a 2000 Series Panic Exit Bar on the opposite door. In this configuration, the 2200 Series secures one door to the frame using its top and bottom latches, while the 2000 Series secures the second door to the first door. Adding an outside handle to the 2000 Series allows secure exterior access for the complete dual-door setup.
Surface-Mounted Electric Strike
A surface-mounted electric strike provides another method for releasing the door from outside or from a remote location. The electric strike replaces the provided mechanical strike. When the electric strike is not activated, the panic bar engages normally. When triggered by an access control device, the strike releases, allowing the door to be pulled open from the outside.
Compatible access devices include keypads, card readers, intercom systems, desk push buttons, receiver/remote controls, and GSM cellular receivers. When using an electric strike, an exterior pull handle and appropriate access control devices are also required.
Door Closer
Door closers are available in several styles with different features; however, their main purpose is the same: to automatically close the door after it has been opened. Since both the 2000 Series and 2200 Series automatically latch when the door closes, a door closer is a popular accessory to help ensure the door remains closed, secure, and latched.
