The Sentry Safety 2200 Series Double Door Panic Exit Bar is a UL Listed, press-type emergency exit device designed specifically for double-leaf (dual) door applications. Engineered for reliability in medium- to high-traffic environments, this model is ideal for warehouses, factories, schools, hospitals, and other commercial or public buildings requiring secure and efficient emergency egress.

The 2200 Series is designed to convert compatible double-door openings into a fully functional emergency exit system. Its vertical rod configuration allows installation on non-mullion dual doors, where there is no center frame support between door leaves. This ensures both doors operate together safely and reliably during emergency exit conditions.

This model is universal and can be installed on either right- or left-hand configurations without requiring separate handed versions. The push bar is available in red or stainless steel finish, while the internal components and vertical rods are finished in black for durability and contrast. The 38-inch cross bar is trim-to-fit for installation flexibility.

Trimming the Panic Bar to Size:

The actual bar that goes between the two handles is provided ready for sizing. To shorten the bar, simply cut it with a hacksaw or miter saw to the required length. Then attach it to the handles.

Changing from Right or Left Hand Mounting:

With this panic exit bar, it is very simple to change between right- and left-hand mounting. The lever on the handle can simply be flipped into the opposite position without tools and then mounted.

Latching and Mounting:

This panic bar is surface mounted, so the panic bar is placed on the rear face of the door and the rods run to the top and bottom of the door. Two strikes are installed on the door frame at the top and bottom, aligned with the rods and latches. If the door previously had a handle, it will need to be removed. Caps are available to cover the hole left behind after the handle is removed. Door jamb brackets are also available to cover where the old handle latched to the frame. Mounting bolts are provided; however, depending on the door material, you may switch to wood screws, self-tapping metal screws, or, for added strength, sex bolts. Sex bolts have a female side on the outside of the door and a male side on the inside that join in the middle. Because both faces of the door are used for securing the bar, this creates a very strong hold.

2000 Series Panic Exit Bar With Outside Handle

This panic bar can be operated with an outside handle, but because it does not include locking capability for the outside handle, it is not typically sold with that configuration (the lock on the outside of the door would not prevent the handle from being operated). Since this panic bar is primarily used in a dual-door application, you can use the 2200 Series on one door and the 2000 Series on the opposite door. The 2200 Series top and bottom latch will secure one door to the frame, and the 2000 Series bar will secure the second door to the first door. The 2000 Series panic bar can be paired with an outside handle, allowing secure exterior access when used alongside a 2200 Series setup.

There are a couple of variations of door closers with different features; however, the main purpose is the same: to ensure the door stays closed. Because this door will always latch to the strike, a door closer is a popular addition to help ensure the door stays closed and locked.
